 The Summit Golf and Resort is strategically located on the coast of the Panama Canal, in the Gaillard highway and close to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort. Its installations is found immersed in the middle of a spectacular flora and fauna typical of the region in a mixture of paradise of elegance and comfort for the enjoyment of all its visitors.
Considered as a first category golf course and high class, it is currently the site of international championships. Summit began its operations in October of 1999 with a Tournament of the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association.
This luxury complex includes two golf courses, the first of these has 18 holes and the second, designed especially for children, has 6 holes. The Summit Golf and Resort is the only facility of its type in Latin America equipped with GPS technology. It also has a three level Driving Range, the last indoor and with artificial carpeting.
It was strategically constructed on the top of a hill, approximately 130 feet above the Golf Courses. Its design allows the visitor a visual enjoyment of almost 360 degrees of the Camino de Cruces National Park, through its wide windows.
Originally the Summit Golf and Resort was constructed in the 1930´s for the enjoyment of US workers that operated in the Panama Canal zone.
The course has been completely renovated according to international standards. The combination of a high quality design carried out by the well known US designer Jeffrey Myers and constructed by the experts in the golf courses in tropical areas, Gregori International making the final results of the product of high calibre. The course was constructed on the hills facing the famous Culebra Court of the Panama Canal and the Camino de Cruces National Park.
-Golf Court for adults: 18 holes, 72 par with 6 626 total yards.
-Golf Court for children: 6 holes.
The True Greens are constructed on the basis of sand and planted with Hybrid Bermuda Tifdwarf. Los Tees and Fairways: Constructed on the basis of sand and planted with Hybrid Bermuda Tifdway 419.
The harzards have been placed to punish the poor shots, while the greens have been moderately pepared for putting, an interesting challenge.
The course has 8 kilometers of concrete streets for an easy access to each hole during the rainy season.
Each golf cart has been equipped with Global Position System (GPS) to guide the golfers through the course and give them critical distances through a computerized system of yardage that works by satellite links as well as shot tips. This is the first golf course in Latin America with this system.
The championship course is 72 par, and has three different ways of tees that provide a memorable experience for golfers of all levels.
Currently, Summit Golf and Resort works like a Club with food and drink services: restaurant, bar, food carts in the course, etc. It also has Golf grounds, Event halls, Basic gymnasium, Day Care, a Pro Shop.
This entertainment site also takes care of children offering a family center, day care and games for all ages.
It also has excellent agreements and relations with hotels close to the Club and in the center of the city it offers lodging to all tourists that request it.
