The Nasos, known until recently as Teribes, live in the western region in the province of Bocas del Toro, mainly on the shores of the Teribe River close to the Costa Rican border. The Teribe people have their own local authority and is headed by a King who maintains the group’s original traditions.
The Nasos or Teribes use the Naso language; on the other hand their physical features, character or way to be and form of life are examples of how to live with nature, a monarchy with democracy. They have a variety of artistic expressions, conserve dances and elaborate baskets of different sizes and handmade knitted hamacs. |
