Colombia is located on the limits with Central America and South America and shares borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador.  It has coasts with the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean and it also has various islands among them the archipelagos of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.

A visitor can find picturesque towns in its surroundings many of them with indigenous names.  It is currently a cosmopolitan city permanently expanding with famous commercial activity, accompanied with a variety of hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs.  The Pacific region has an enormous jungle strip.  The islands of Gorgona, Gorgonilla and Malpelo is found along its coasts, turned into a natural park which year after year welcomes the visit of hunch backed whales.  Its waters are also used for industrial fishing and sports.

Cartagena, is a beautiful relic, recognized as a World Heritage Site, where murals, castles and streets are full of beautiful landscapes.  Santa Marta is an important tourist center including a modern hotel infrastructure.
There you will find the highest section of the Colombian territory with the Colon and Bolivar peaks, located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.  The sub-regions of interest for eco-tourism are found in the Sabanas del Caribe and Valle del Sinú.
The coasts that surround the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia as well as the keys that make them up are naturally attractive.  The island of San Andrés has tourism sites like: Bahia Sardinas, Cueva de Morgan, Pax Hole among other attractions. Due to his geographic isolation and its primitive state it constitutes an ideal site to rest.  Its beautiful and isolated beaches are perfect for swimming, diving, water skiing, and other water sports.
To the east you can find Orinoquia made up of Arauca, Casanare, Meta and Vichada departments.  Its main attractions for the development of eco-tourism are is extensive plains, the biodiversity of its flora and fauna, hydro-graphic basin and folklore.
Travelling through the Amazon jungle is to discover the major ecological reserve on earth.  To visit the Amazon is to directly live with nature, with an imaginable abundance of vegetable and animal species.  A visitor can carry out various excursions from the capital of the department of the Amazonas which is Leticia.

Cartagena de Indias is a relic recognized as a World Heritage Site where its murals, castles, squares, balconies and picturesque colonial streets are full of beautiful landscapes.  Founded in 1533, this region was crucial as a commercial center and shipping port for the King’s treasures during the Spanish domination in Colombia.
