Colombia is located on the limits with Central America and South America and shares borders with Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. It has coasts with the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean and it also has various islands among them the archipelagos of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.
Colombia is Caribbean, also very Pacific, Andean and Amazon. Colombia’s capital city of Santa Fe de Bogotá is the most important political, economic and cultural center. The city shackles its streets and neighbourhoods, centuries of history, anecdotes and legends. The historic center of La Candelaria, is the oldest neighbourhood of the capital and towards the east you can find the most representative colonial fortifications. The Pacific region has an enormous jungle strip. Cartagena, is a beautiful relic, recognized as a World Heritage Site, where murals, castles and streets are full of beautiful landscapes. Santa Marta is an important tourist center including a modern hotel infrastructure.
There you will find the highest section of the Colombian territory with the Colon and Bolivar peaks, located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. The sub-regions of interest for eco-tourism are found in the Sabanas del Caribe and Valle del Sinú.
The coasts that surround the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia as well as the keys that make them up are naturally attractive. The island of San Andrés has tourism sites like: Bahia Sardinas, Cueva de Morgan, Pax Hole among other attractions. Cartagena de Indias is a relic recognized as a World Heritage Site where its murals, castles, squares, balconies and picturesque colonial streets are full of beautiful landscapes. Founded in 1533, this region was crucial as a commercial center and shipping port for the King’s treasures during the Spanish domination in Colombia.
