Mexico is located in the northern part of the American continent.  It borders the US to the south, Guatemala and Belize to the north; to the west of the Gulf of Mexico and east of the Pacific Ocean; it has 32 states divided into 6 tourist regions.

Northern Mexico is characterized by its deserts, natural reserves and the abrupt geography of the mountain range that crosses the country as well as its cities that extends through the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Sonora, Durango, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.  Coahuila is a perfect spot for camping and photograph safaris.  In Zacatecas, you can admire interesting archaeological areas like Alta Vista and La Quemada.
In Chihuahua, visit the impressive urban vestiges of Paquimé.  In Sonora, you will find the best beaches in the country´s north.   While in Tamaulipas, you will discover the El Cielo Biosphere Reserve and one of the oldest archaeological areas, the Cueva del Diablo Complex, which dates back to some 8 000 years.
The center of Mexico is one of the regions with the most natural and cultural richness in the country.  Represented by the states Aguascalientes, Federal District, Mexico, Guanajuato, Hildalgo, Michoacán, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala  you can appreciate a number of natural scenarios, picturesque populations and beautiful colonial cities.  Mexico City, capital of the Republic, has excellent joint architectural sites that decorate its Historic Center.  You will also discover impressive archaeological zones like Teotihuacán, Xochicalco, Cacxtla and Tula; as well as sumptuous natural spaces like the Iztaccíhuatl-Popocatépetl National Volcano Park, among others; in addition to a number of forests, waterfalls, lakes, ideal destinations for adventures, speleological moments, scuba diving, mountain climbing, camping and observing the flora and fauna.
The Gulf of Mexico region and the country´s south (towards the Pacific Ocean) has one of the most surprising ecosystems, ideal for ecotourism.   The states of Veracruz, Tabasco and Chiapas are located in this region.  The strips of beaches in Veracruz known as Emerald Coast, is ideal for water sports.  Tabasco is found in the south, mixed with natural scenery and modern sites in its capital, Villahermosa.
Chiapas offers a visitor the splendour of places like the Lacandona jungle, the Cañón del Sumidero and the Agua Azul waterfalls, in addition to the vestiges of Maya traditions and the city of Palenque and the towns known as San Cristobal de las Casas and Tapachula.
The Yucatan Peninsula is located in Mexico’s southeast, surrounded by the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.  This region, made up of the states of Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo, is famous for its large quantities of archaeological sights, legacy of the ancient Mayas: Chichén Itzá and Uxmal.  Cancún is found in Quintana Roo with exclusive hotels and an endless natural beach: as well as the Maya Riviera, Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, ideal locations for scuba diving.
The Pacific Coast is located in the Republic´s western part and is formed by the States of Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Nayarit, Oaxaca and Sinaloa.  You can find cities and populations in this region with a rich cultural and cuisine tradition as well as the best beaches for surfing, fishing and other water sports.
The Peninsula of Baja California is found in the north-western part of the country, bordering the United States, east of the Pacific Ocean and west of the Cortes Sea.  It is divided into two states:  Baja California and Baja California South and it’s a region inhabited from unmemorable times.  A visitor can practice golf in this area, discover the underwater treasures of the Cortes Sea and witness the incredible arrival of the grey whale in its coasts.
